Albertville

Lieulever

804 Points – As surprising as it might seem, the hamlets that make up the village of Montsapey, dotted across the slopes of the Grand Arc, organise a major classical music festival every summer, "Les Arts Jaillissants", held in the first two weeks of July.

1422 Points – This route to the Signal de Bisanne is one of the top 5 Cycloclimbing Challenges. With two other access roads in the top 20, this summit alone is an excellent reason for a visit to the area.

988 Points – A difficult climb. The very poor road surface in the last few hundred metres is an excellent reason for descending the other side of the pass.

The climb through fields and forests to the Col des Saisies, the descent into the heart of the Beaufortain with glorious views of the Mont Blanc, and the section through the wonderful village of Hauteluce are great cycling moments in Savoie Mont Blanc.

1343 Points – This road to the Signal de Bisanne has the added bonus of kilometre posts for cyclists, but the final setion is just as steep and the view of Mont Blanc is equally superb.

969 Points – A truly daunting climb with 43 switchbacks and a sometimes very poor road surface. After admiring Mont Blanc from the summit, it is best to traverse the pass and descend its eastern side.

Bourg-Saint-Maurice

10 - Traversée du Beaufortain

The traverse of the Beaufortain takes you over the Cormet de Roselend and down past Roselend reservoir to Beaufort and Albertville. SNCF summer rail offers, which give unlimited train travel throughout Savoie, greatly facilitate this type of A-to-B ride.

7 - Balcons de l'Arly

A lovely little road overlooking the gorge takes you into the heart of the Val d'Arly and to the charming village-resorts of Crest-Voland and Notre-Dame-de-Bellecombe.

Moûtiers

Bénétant

823 Points – This climb includes 4-km at a gradient of almost 12%, but the forest provides welcome shade and the switchbacks are short. Finishes at Bénétant, a tiny hamlet in an idyllic valley.

1249 Points – Another demanding climb that features in the top 20 Challenges. After the resort of Crest-Voland, the route tackles the steep switchbacks below the Col des Saisies. The magnificent panorama from the summit takes in the whole of the northern Alps and Mont Blanc.
