On the 8th February 1992, Albertville was projected into the limelight by the XVIth Winter Olympic Games - the town’s name was spoken with accents from all over the world. Albertville became the meeting place for all those driven by the Olympic ideals.
The Olympic Park has become a sports and leisure area, comprising the sports hall, the stadium, several football, baseball and rugby pitches, an archery range, and a fitness trail. The whole of its equipment was concieved with the preoccupation of their reconversion after the olympic games, the bet has paid off. Today, many of those who use these areas are still caught up in the emotion of the moment, be they visitors, local Savoyards, amateur athletes or higher level sportsmen and women.
