Eglise Saint Maxime : En accès libre

Galerie
Description

Dit gebouw in het hart van het dorp, met zijn strenge buitenkant, onthult al zijn barokke schatten... Als u de trappen durft op te lopen en de deur durft open te duwen!

Don't be fooled by the appearance of this imposing building's uncluttered facade... Rebuilt in the 17th century, but retaining the Romanesque base of the original bell tower, this church will present you with some beautiful Baroque elements in its renovated interior: monumental 18th-century tabernacle, twisted columns decorated with vine branches and gilded with gold leaf, fine scalloped rood beam...
The must-see? Its preaching pulpit. Carved in 1722 by Jacques Clérant in walnut, decorated with the Fathers of the Church, angels and garlands of flowers, it is a striking example of the skills of the various craftsmen who worked on the grandeur of this building, as well as all those in the surrounding area, in the Baroque period!
You can also linger in the "return" galleries, a characteristic feature of Beaufortain churches.
