L'Atelier, a school of engraving, typography & modelling, was founded in September 2010 at the instigation of engraver and editor of Art Alain Bar, who, after 40 years of creation, decided to put aside his personal activity to devote himself to the transmission of his know-how. With the support of the town hall of Albertville, he created this space dedicated to prints in the former primary school of the medieval city of Conflans. Alain Bar provided all his professional equipment (8 presses, several tons of lead characters for typography, a ceramic oven) as well as his know-how in this unique place. Since 2016, a new space dedicated to lithography has come to enrich the school. This workshop operates in the form of internships (5 sessions per year). At the end of 2019, L'Atelier moved to the heart of the medieval city of Conflans in the Maison Perrier de la Bâthie, next to the museum.
